Bear God's Image
In Megan Wood’s song, The Truth, the verse, “I was made in the image of a
perfect King,” lifts my soul.
Think about it.
The Bible tells us we are made in the image of God, yet my unfocused mind is
a burden to me. God may be able to handle multiple thoughts at once, but not
me. I’ve often suspected that I have attention deficit disorder (it surely
can’t be my fault). Often, it is very hard for me to hold a single thought for
more than a few seconds.
How nice it would be if my attention was focused upon God as each thought
raced through, filtered through His lenses, measured and evaluated, kept or
discarded. Like having a mental sieve made from each of the godly traits, where
thoughts pass through and are acted upon, or are captured and tossed out.
This lack of focusing ability leads to poor decisions, confusing actions,
and stifles inspiration. It interferes with using my spiritual gifts. But God
knows this.
In 2 Peter 1:3, he says, “seeing that His divine power has granted to us
everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him
who called us by His own glory and excellence.” (NASB95) If we trust in God and
study Him, we don’t have to worry. God will continue to guide us.
He equipped us at the factory to live the life He wanted for us, before we
were even shipped out to the nursery. He prepared us to do His will for us in
this world. To help and bless each person we meet. To show them the love of God
through us. To give mercy and forgiveness.
Blessings flow when we earnestly study God.
As you prepare for your day, think for a moment, or meditate for several
minutes, on the awesome knowledge of God creating you with everything you need
for a godly life, if only you believe it and turn your life over to Him to
guide and empower it.
Heavenly Father, the mirror shows us what the world sees, but the Bible
tells us what we are made of. Thank you for giving us all we need to live the
abundant life of peace, as we worship and glorify You. May others see your
loving image in our lives today. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Soli Deo Gloria
